With its 16-cylinder four-wheel drive, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4*) may well be the most sophisticated production vehicle of all times.
Most of the components tucked beneath its hood are ingenious innovations that were formerly only deemed possible by visionaries like Ferdinand Piëch.
Boasting a maximum speed of more than 400 km per hour, the Veyron is unmatched in the super sports category. It offers a total of 736 kW (1,001 HP), and its ample power reserves even at high speeds are the fabric of dreams for luxury-class limousines: for a constant speed of 250 km/h, the Veyron only needs 270-280 HP. This means that the seven-gear clutch transmission works with a torque of up to 1,250 Newton meters. The Electronic Stability Program ensures the necessary flexibility
and maneuverability at any speed. The Veyron reaches velocities that would literally lift the car off the ground – if it weren’t for its ingenious aerodynamics, which keeps it firmly on the road even at full speed. Adjusting the back spoiler, reducing ground clearance, opening and closing the lids – it all adds to the perfect balance between propulsion and downforce. Such a super sports car may not seem to be brought to a halt easily, but the Veyron’s ceramic brakes slow it down faster than it can accelerate. While it takes this exceptional car only 2.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, it needs even less time – a mere 2.3 seconds – to come to a standstill from 100 (reference point). To reduce the risk of injuries in accidents, Bugatti had a Formula 1 safety concept adapted for the Veyron. All these technical details combine to make the Veyron a truly exceptional super sports car.

Bugatti Veyron Top Gear

On Top Gear the car has received considerable praise from all three presenters. While initially skeptical in 2004 that the Veyron would even be produced, Jeremy Clarkson later declared the Veyron "the greatest piece of engineering ever. No, I'm sorry, this is the greatest car ever made and the greatest car we will ever see in our lifetime." James May proclaimed that the Veyron is "our Concorde moment". To review the car, Clarkson drove from Alba, northern Italy to London whilst racing James May and Richard Hammond who were travelling in a Cessna 182 aeroplane.

A few episodes later, James May drove the Veyron at the VW test track and took it to its top speed of 407.16 km/h (253.00 mph). During the second episode of the 13th season, Richard Hammond raced the Veyron against the McLaren F1 driven by The Stig in a one mile drag race in Abu Dhabi, commenting on Bugatti's "amazing technical achievement" versus the "non gizmo" racing purity of the F1. While the F1 was quicker off the line and remained ahead until both cars were travelling at approximately 200 km/h, the Bugatti overtook its competitor from 200 to 300 km/h, and emerged the victor. Hammond has stated that he did not use the Veyron's launch control in order to make the race more interesting.

The Veyron also won the award for Car of the Decade in Top Gear's end of 2009 award show. Clarkson commented "It was a car that just rewrote the rule book really, an amazing piece of engineering, a genuine Concorde moment". When the standard version was tested, it did not reach the top of the lap time leader board, which was speculated as being due to the car's considerable weight disadvantage against the other cars towards the top. The SuperSport version, however, achieved the fastest ever time of 1:16.8, as well as being taken to a (verified) average top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) by Raphanel on the programme, henceforth retaking its position as the fastest production car in the world.

The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is a mid-engined grand touring car. The Super Sport version is the fastest production car in the world, with an average top speed of 431.072 kilometres per hour (267.856 mph) .The original version has a top speed of 408.47 km/h (253.81 mph).

Designed and developed by the German Volkswagen Group and produced by Bugatti Automobiles SAS at their headquarters in Château St. Jean in Molsheim (Alsace, France), the Veyron's chief designer was Hartmut Warkuss, and the exterior was designed by Jozef Kabaň of Volkswagen, with much of the engineering work being conducted under the guidance of a former VW engineer and now Bugatti Engineering chief Wolfgang Schreiber.

The car is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti company. It was named "Car of the Decade" (2000–2009) by the BBC television programme Top Gear.

A number of special variants have been produced, including two targa tops.

New Bugatti Veyron Pegaso Edition 2010

Some times are for Michelob, and other times are for Cristal. The vehicle you see above and in the gallery below — the Bugatti Veyron Pegaso Edition — is one of the latter. Similarly, we're assuming there are some times we guess it's important for Russian oil barons to set themselves apart from the rest of the mere "filthy rich," and show the world they're actually part of the "ridiculously rich" club. Here's how one particular Russian oil baron did it. The man, who happens to actually live in Dubai's Burj Al Arab seven-star hotel, snagged himself a Bugatti Veyron and then decided it was necessary to spend a little bit more money with some pimper of autos who's recycling the name of an old Spanish coachbuilder that worked with Alfa Romeo and Ferrari during the 1950's to boost the output on the machine by an extra 200 horses. That brings the final number to an absolutely ree-dic-u-luss 1200 HP, and we're thinking may even pop that top speed well over the 250 MPH+ mark it's already at — unless of course it just explodes. But really, our only question here is — does the man wipe himself on the toilet with hundred dollar bills, or does he pay someone to do that for him?
