This year’s NAIAS is fantastic. Don’t believe the nay-sayers who gloomily predict the demise of the American auto industry based on what they see as a less-than-stellar show floor. They’re Scrooges, the lot of them. The show is great. Being naturally biased towards electric vehicles, I especially liked Electric Avenue, right there on the main floor, not relegated to the chilly, damp Cobo basement (well, the MEDC EcoXperience track is still down there, but it has to be). Even the BYD display is interesting, much better than last year’s boring, spiritless effort. And the CT&T exhibit is super-cool, complete with something most automakers haven’t flaunted in ages — young, hot models. These girls are total camp, decked out in miniaturized school girl, police woman, postal carrier, and dominatrix costumes. With showgirls like these, and with all the neat vehicle configurations and body styles, I was eager to test-drive the vehicle CT&T offered up on the EcoXperience track
