No matter the automaker's uncertain future, Saab's engineers are continuing to put their new 9-5 through various harsh cold weather tests in Sweden. This is the first time our spy shooters have caught the SportCombi (or wagon) version in the wild.
Compared to the current edition, the new 9-5 will be bigger in every dimension. It's based on GM's Epsilon II chassis that can be configured for all-wheel or front-wheel drive operation. The platform currently underpins the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. Styling cues are said to come from the 2008 9-4x BioPower concept.
Engines will likely range from the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder to the 2.8L V-6 from the 9-3. Diesel and hybrid powered versions are expected as well -- that is, if the car is actually produced.
Check back soon to see if the Saab 9-5 ultimately makes it into dealer showrooms.
