The Blue Oval is turning a shade of green! Ford has announced that it will launch full-hybrid and plug-in electric variants of its new C-Max by 2013.
They will join forces with three other zero or low-emissions models due to be released in the next few years, including a full electric Transit Connect van coming out in 2011, and a battery powered version of the new Ford Focus, arriving in 2012.
The new five-seat C-MAX and the seven-seat Grand C-MAX are due out by the end of this year, but the Detroit automaker said it plans to build both eco-friendly models at the company's Spanish plant in Valencia.
The Spanish government secured big grants from the European Union to ensure that the new models were made in the country, with Ford promising to invest the close to £275.9m over the next three years.
"These new advanced technology models are key to Ford's commitment to delivering a portfolio of alternative powertrain vehicles globally and to European customers in the next few years," said John Fleming, CEO of Ford of Europe. For more details click here.
